Samuel Williams
Samuel James Williams (born 13th June 1995) is a new member of LOpSoc for the 2013 season.
Biography[edit]
Williams was born on the 13th June 1995 in the Royal Gwent Hospital, South Wales. Williams lived the majority of his childhood in Maldon in Essex after moving there shortly after his second birthday. Williams studied at The Sandon School from 2006-2013. In his final year he held the office of Head Boy. Alongside his academic endeavours, Williams was an active member of the Scouting movement until he joined the Air Training Corps (ATC) at age 13. He advanced to the rank of Sergeant and completed a Gliding Scholarship, which allowed him to fly the Viking T1 Glider solo before his seventeenth birthday. After completion of his A-Levels Williams began reading History at the University of Southampton.
As well as being a member of LOpSoc, Williams is also an Officer Cadet in the Southampton University Air Squadron.
He is due to perform in Pirates of Penzance 2014 as Major-General Stanley.
Thomas Joy[edit]
LOpSoc brought together Samuel with his creative, professional and bromantic partner Thomas Joy, LopSoc's resident Musical Director. They are currently writing their first operetta together, claiming to be the 21st century answer to Gilbert and Sullivan. Samuel and Thomas secretly have a bromance going on, the self-styled Thomuel.

Quotes[edit]
My ARCH lecturer explained how much of a menace Barbary Pirates were, up until the early 19th century. He shared with us an anecdote of these North African Pirates attacking the south west of England, to which I replied "So not only did they have the Pirates of Penzance to contend with, they had to deal with African Pirates too". The room erupted into a large "HA-HA" much like that which can be found on line 3, page 154 of the libretto.
"If you pushed me to name my favourite Mozart piece, I guess I would have to say Moonlight Sonata"
"Is that syncopation?"
"I apologise for my shallow belt" after singing Music of the Night, much to Thomas Joy 's annoyance.
"That Creme Egg is still giving my jipp"
"The Phantom of the Opera is classical music"
"I want to be known among the PA societies, y'know?"
