Thomas is currently LOpSoc's Chairman and Musical Director.

== Biography ==

Born in December 1993, Thomas is due to start the 3rd year of his Law degree at Southampton, and has been LOpSoc's Musical Director since joining the university in September 2012. He began playing music at the age of 4 and is a classically trained pianist. He is also a published film composer as well as playing the clarinet, bass clarinet and organ. On top of being LOpSoc's Musical Director, Répétiteur and Conductor, he plays as an exam accompanist, competes in mooting with the Faculty of Law and is usually found either buried in law text books or frantically trying (and usually failing) to sight read music people put in front of him.

He was elected LOpSoc's chairman at the 2014 AGM in March 2014.

Thomas was elected Chairman of LOpSoc in March 2014 and will remain in the post until Spring 2015.

In the 2013-2014 season, Thomas MDed both shows, [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]] and [[Sweeney Todd 2014]]. He is due to MD [[Pirates of Penzance (Harrogate) 2014]], his final show as Musical Director with the society.

== Other Roles ==

Thomas is to produce [[Iolanthe 2015]], directed by [[Emma Joy]] and [[Abby Pardoe]]. In the 2014/5 season, he is also due to produce Showstopper's production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee . In summer 2014, he also co-MDed Showstopper's 24 Hour Show.

Thomas is currently LOpSoc's Musical Director in Residence.

== Biography ==

Born in December 1993, Thomas is currently in the second year of his Law degree at Southampton, and has been LOpSoc's Musical Director since joining the university in September 2012. He began playing music at the age of 4 and is a classically trained pianist. He is also a published film composer as well as playing the clarinet, bass clarinet and organ. On top of being LOpSoc's Musical Director, Répétiteur and Conductor, he plays as an exam accompanist, competes in mooting with the Faculty of Law and is usually found either buried in law text books or frantically trying (and usually failing) to sight read music people put in front of him.

He will be guest Musical Director with East Berkshire Operatic Society in Summer 2014.

== Musical Director of LOpSoc ==
He took over as Musical Director in September 2012, and began as MD for [[Double Feature 2013]]. He proceeded to MD [[Ruddigore 2013]] and was MD for [[Ruddigore (Buxton) 2013]].

In the 2013-2014 season, Thomas will be MD for both shows, [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]] and [[Sweeney Todd 2014]]. He is due to MD [[Pirates of Penzance (Harrogate) 2014]].

=== LOpSoc Orchestra ===

Thomas was also responsible for reestablishing a permanent base of musicians who play for LOpSoc's productions. The [[LOpSoc Orchestra]] currently stands at over 30 members and is conducted by Thomas.

Thomas is LOpSoc's Diva-in-residence. Combining forces with [[Cerys Beesley]], they form the LOpSoc [[Superdiva]].

Thomuel is the ship name for the bromantic, creative and professional partnership between [[Thomas Joy]] and [[Samuel Williams]]. The partnership began after Samuel panicked Thomas during the auditions of [[Pirates of Penzance 2014]] when Samuel requested the Major-General's song to be played in his audition, Thomas hadn't learnt it by this time and much hilarity / panic ensued.

== JWBT ==

JWBT or more formally known as Joy-Williams Bonding Time is any time in which Thomuel are in each other's company. This time is often coupled with rehearsals for LOpSoc shows. This time is often spent in the "crèche", the derogatory name prescribed to the area behind the piano. Thomas usual takes advantage of Samuels admiration for his musical ability by making him turn the pages of the score. Admittedly, Samuel's ability to identify time signatures is severely lacking and his usually irritates Thomas greatly. Thomas maintains that this doesn't irritate him at all, but rather provides respite from the monotony of the endless oompah chords G&S were such fans of.
